This digital Guidebook is meant to accompany the 60-card deck Emblemata Oracle by Nitasia Roland of Urania Press. Interpretations Guide for Renaissance Emblems from 16th-century France from Claude Paradin's Devises heroïques. Written and curated by Nitasia Roland—the woodcut illustrations and their enigmatic Latin and French mottos were digitally cleaned and repaired from the museum's archived files, optimizing the emblems' contrast, line quality, sharpness, and saturation; the final touch was colorizing them, bringing these extraordinary images back to life for a contemporary Oracular edition. The emblems and their mottos have the capacity to express a magical gnosis brought forth from spirit, the noetic realm, and the collective unconscious, and can be decoded for clues and secrets to further reveal their meaning, mysticism, and magic. They are intended to coax the reader into a contemplative state of associations, acting as prompts and catalysts, opening the interior space in which genuine knowing becomes possible.
